Gifts for family

I've finished all the shadow boxes now and will try to get pictures on here soon.  Yesterday I started some more gifts for my daughter and daughter-in-law.  I saw a picture on face book, don't know who the designer was, of a plaque that said family birthdays and had the months listed at the bottom.  There were strings or cord with little tags and on the tag were names of family who had birthdays in that month.  I've used the idea but changed the look of the plaque and I'm using wooden tags and jute to hold them on one plaque.  Probably won't get much else done this week as I go to work tomorrow and this week end family is coming in from out of town.
I have to start real early or I'd never get the cards and gifts made in time for Christmas.  It seems so weird to be making Christmas things this early but I love it so I don't mind being a little weird!

Just a few words for now

I'm back to work so takes me a little longer to finish things.  I'm making different shadow boxes for each of my family members and have completed another smaller one today but didn't have time to take pictures yet.  Hopefully I will be able to get them done this week.  If I could win the lottery I could stay home and craft all the time (you have to play to win)  but you kinda need money to make all these things so I guess I'll just keep on working so I can.  God bless Louise

Christmas in July

This photo holder I bought on sale several years ago at a Hallmark store.  I thought it a little plain so embellished it with snow flakes, extra snowmen and trees.  It is all done in white textures which don't show well in a picture but it really is pretty.

The front cover of a covered shadow box from Tim Holtz.  I painted the edges all around the a couple inches in the make sure that there were no un-covered spaces.  Then I cut and taped the background paper to the next layer then cut and taped all the separate Santa cards together.  I did ink all the edges before assembly.

The inside cover paper was inked as well before applying it.  The card in the middle was made to give instructions to press the center of the poinsettia to hear music.

I'll try to tell you everything I did but I may miss some steps.  I covered the back of each box with a soft printed music sheet.  Box#1 Branch sticker, tag with old world Santa, small chalk board from Michaels $1 bin and a holly button.
box #2 old world Santa, ice skates 3d sticker, silver punched sticker, and let it snow and snowflakes stickers.
Box#3 punched silver sticker and a small book I made with pieces of scrapbook paper.  Box #4 silver foil reflector made for cupcake liner and a star brad.

The box with the deer is just made with holly and bells from the craft supplies at Hobby Lobby.  The bells were gold so I painted them and the glittered them.  The poinsettia is a 3-d sticker with a piece of scrapbook paper and a punched snowflake.  I hid the music button behind the flowers.  The next box is a page from a calendar I bought last year, punched snowflakes, Santa with silver tinsel glued around the edge , a 3d phrase and a small bottle tree that I glittered.

The bottom left box is a small Christmas card from a piece of scrapbook paper and a tiny clothes pin holding  it and a sepia Santa near the bottom.  The next box is a small bottle wreath with ribbon and a sentiment cut from paper with a gingerbread button, candy canes and gifts.

The last box is done with 3-d stickers

This top right box didn't show up well in the other pictures.  It has a pair of mittens that I cut from chip board and glittered paper.  I added some fuzzy yarn at the top with some holly buttons and tied them together with jute.  The box underneath is a noel button and a silver frame with another Santa.  I did ink everything and then used snow tex all around.  There are a lot of Santas here because this is a gift for my sister who loves them.  Hope you enjoy.  I go back to work tomorrow so don't know how much more I will get to post but hopefully it won't be two years again!

My 4th of July

I hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July.  I sat out in the front of my apartment building with my family and watched the fireworks, and there were plenty, for several hours.  While I watched I couldn't help but think of how it must have been for all those who gave their lives in wars.  The explosions they heard were not fun but I'm sure brought fear to their hearts as they tried to keep safe as well as do what they were sent to do.  There is so much that has been said about this that I just want to say that I'm very proud to be an American and that I live in this country where I can worship my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ without fear.  We don't know how long we will have this freedom as things are changing every day but I am blessed any way.
I am working on a shadow box book( from Tim Holtz ) and will post pictures soon.  It is a Christmas display and will go to my sister.  She likes the lodge look and mission style so hope to make it fit her style.    God bless Louise

Opps!

Sorry these pictures are sideways.  I couldn't see how to turn them.

New things

My it's been along time since I posted on here.  All my followers have probably given up on me but I just have had some major life changes going on and have not had time to post.  I have been re-doing my apartment and will try to post some pictures if I can remember how!  I have a new granddaughter who is now 8 months old.  Her Mom, my daughter and sister and dad live a couple doors down from me so I get to see them a lot.  They are so cute!  I still make my cards and books and tags and will try to get some pictures for you soon.  My granddaughter just had her second birthday and I made the decorations with my circuit machine.  It was all Minnie Mouse and turned out cute!  This is a cupboard I found at a local thrift shop and started painting when I thought I should do a before and after shot!

Here are the Minnie Mouse decorations I made.

Door hanger

Table décor.  I put the sign with the number two a piece of foam core that I scored so it would bend and stand up.  The top and bottom trim is ribbon and the sides are rick rack.  The Minnie on either side will stand alone but it was too windy so just used clothes pins and fastened them to the larger sign.

The Minnie heads are just large circles and a couple smaller for the ears and a pink bow from a cartridge.  I hung them on cord with tiny black clothes pins.

These pictures are of my craft room.  It is very messy as it always is if I'm working on a project.

My card board where I put things I'm working on and ideas for new projects.

This is just a pretty piece I made from foam core, fabric and scrapbook paper.

The piece in the ornate frame is one I did also.  You can see by these photos that I love pink and shabby chic.   I'm on vacation for another week so maybe I can get some more things on here.  I have a couple more projects to paint, an office chair and a large storage cupboard so we'll see!  I might even get to some paper crafting as I have several ideas floating around in my head.  Hope to see you all soon!  God Bless Louise
